雅思阅读里的熟词僻义

发表于：2018-03-31 18:04:00同学们平时在做雅思文章的时候，往往会有这样的感受，句子里面没有不认识的单词，句子结构也能理解分析，但是却无法正确理解整句话的意思。其实问题主要来源于那些我们看上去很简单的熟词在文章里是完全陌生的用法，也就是我们常说的熟词僻义，道理其实类似于中文里的一词多义。所以为了避免解题过程中受到这类词汇的干扰，同学们平时一定要注意积累这一类型的词汇，否则考试的时候就只能依靠人品了。
1. state
熟义：状态;陈述
僻义：政府
However, the state reacted quickly, closing down all fisheries, even those necessary for subsistence purposes.
2. test
熟义：测试
僻义：实验
In one well-known test, women and men were able to distinguish by smell alone clothing worn by their marriage partners from similar clothing worn by other people.
3. subject
熟义：科目
僻义：实验对象
Recent autoganzfeld trials suggest that success rates will improve with a more careful selection of subjects.
4. uniform
熟义：制服;校服
僻义：统一的
Details of the simultaneous efforts of different societies to calculate time using uniform hours.
5. rate
熟义：比率
僻义：速度
And the data confirms that the rate at which these diseases are declining continues to accelerate.
6. press
熟义：按压;压力
僻义：新闻
He believes the reason is simple: ‘No-one wants bad press.’
7. property
熟义：财产
僻义：属性;性质
When uranium was discovered to be radioactive, Marie Curie found that the element called thorium had the same property.
8. advance
熟义：预先的;提前
僻义：发展;前进
By the age of three, the children in the programme were significantly more advanced in language development than their peers.
9. grant
熟义：奖学金
僻义：授予;
Seven companies producing Alaska salmon were immediately granted permission to display the MSC logo on their products.
10. appreciate
熟义：欣赏;感激
僻义：理解;体会
