(一)学会积累词汇和句型
写作首先需要运用词汇，词汇是文章的砖瓦、石灰，是构成文章的基础材料。因此，我们要学会积累词汇。如分类积累，颜色类：red，white，yellow，black ...; 职业类：teacher，doctor，famer，driver ...等。同时，要重视由数词、形容词、副词等组合而成的短语积累，如：两个苹果(two apples)，一副眼镜(a pair of glasses)，仔细地写(write carefully)，一个漂亮的女孩(a beautiful girl)等。
用英语交际，仅仅掌握一定量的词汇是远远不够的，我们还要把单词放到句子中，做到词不离句。连词成句就是要把彼此孤立的一组词、词组组成一个意思完整、语法正确、合乎习惯的句子。因此，我们还必须积累一些常用句型、常用语和表达方式，才可以准确地进行写作。如There be ...句型，用语等。
(二)学会扩充句子和段落儿童学英语
根据所给内容扩充句子和段落，是丰富学生语言、做好写作准备的前提。例如：话题Seasons，我们要能够根据Spring is the best season. It is full of life. I like Spring.进行扩充。可以根据问题提示：What’s the weather like here? What about flowers, trees and birds? What else do you find? 进行扩充，最后你能说几句?范例：Spring is the loveliest season in the year. In Spring the weather gets warmer, and the days get longer. Trees turn green and flowers come out; birds sing in the trees and fly high in the sky; fishes play in the water happily. How beautiful spring is! I love spring very much. I wish spring would stay in the world forever.
(三)学会构建框架，模仿练笔
根据教材中涉及到的话题或语言内容，构建框架，先填词，后模仿练笔。例如A letter to a penfriend，我们要能够在话题、词汇和句型熟练的基础上，进行应用文(书信)写作。书信框架如下：
